The name of the world-renowned and highly valued Lenchen vineyard derives from the German word “Lehen”, or fief in English. Locally we say “Lenchen”. Today it is one of the most prized vineyards of Oestrich-Winkel: southern-facing slopes, deep-reaching soils mixed with gravely loess. Add some tertiary marl and an optimal water supply for aromatic Riesling wines with excellent crispness and an international reputation.
